I seem to be spending most of my time making cards for other people to give away so it was nice today to make a card for ME to give to my brother for his birthday. My brother (and I) is what you would call a nerd and I had printed Christy's "Roboto" image (you can find it here) out yesterday to make a card for my brother. This morning when I was looking at all the challenge entries at the Tiddly inks Challenge blog, I saw CJ's card and just had to do the sentiment in html code like she had, it was SUCH a cool idea! So here is my Mr Roboto birthday card (long live STYX).

I've also met the challenge requirements for Charisma Cards Challenge as well this week which was black, white and one other colour (hoping there is no disqualification for the green eyes...lol...)

Melissa, over at the Tiddly Inks Challenge blog has provided us with an awesome tutorial on making a shaker card and the challenge this week is to create a heart themed shaker card. I found Christy's cute little bunny image and couldn't resist make an Easter card with shaking hearts and eggs. Firstly I created a little scenery by sewing some wobbly crate paper strips together then adding the awesome sky from My Minds Eye. Next I cut out and coloured some eggs, coloured in the Tiddly Inks image 'Hoppy Wishes' with my copics then combined them using Melissa's tutorial instructions and voila - one shaker card with hearts. I made the shaker section into an easel type card with some 'Happy Easter' wishes. The cute little bunny image is available here!

This weeks challenge over at Tiddly Inks is to create a monochromatic card - of course I chose teal my favorite colour of all time. I started by digging through my stash and cutting inchies of my favorite teal papers to create a teal patchwork background. I then printed the awesome Cherry Bug with her stack of cupcakes, dug out all my teal copics and set to making her tealy pretty - I love her sparkly wings! The banner was just to finish it off and send a message to the little girl getting this birthday card - my lovely niece Samantha. This is my first card as Guest Design Team member at the Tiddly Inks Challenge blog - and I am so excited to be working with such a talented group of ladies and having so much fun working with Christy's delightfully delovely images!

I decorated it with Basig Grey PP - everything is so 'to hand' for me now when I am playing.....
I had a call from one of my ex-students last week letting me know she was pregnant. I taught Jody when she was in Year 8 at Pinjarra SHS and we have managed to keep in touch since she left school through all my new schools and moves. I was invited to her wedding last year and every now and then we catch up for lunch or a coffee. She is now in her late 20's and is an awesome young woman and I am thankful to call myself one of her friends. Its kind of funny and wonderful how relationships can change - Jody was a great kid when I taught her, the sort you remember as she always tried hard and was friendly and thoughtful. She always greeted teachers out in the yard and went out of her way to be helpful. After she left school to work in childcare she dropped back regulary to visit and one coffee led to a lunch and more coffees and now I consider her one of my friends. When she rang to tell me she had just found out she was pregnant I was so excited and happy for her - this card is for Jody!I've used the sketch over at My Favorite things and the Colours from The Play Date Cafe.
This card is also made for the Paper Take Weekly Challenge - Have a heart!
I am a little excited today as a certain Digital Stamp company (that I love and that ROCKS!!!!) has asked me to be a guest designer on their blog...me....lol....I'm honoured, daunted, stunned but VERY excited!!! I'll keep you posted on this HUGE news.....lol....in the meantime I have been cranking out some wedding cards as super great friends of mine are getting married next month and I want to make them the perfect card and also a friend in town asked me to make her a wedding card so I want to give her some choices.....2 done today and I have copiced another cute little image from Tiddly Inks and just need to give it a card. But thought I would post the first two.
This first card is not from a sketch, no colour challenge just one that evolved once I had downloaded the Gothic Wedding Couple image from Tiddly Inks - I love the addition of the Tim Holtz roses and ribbon and the piece of DP is at least 10 years old and from the days I was card making in Mandurah....about 12 years and 4 towns ago....lol...it had a nice vintage feel to go with the vintage frock the bride is wearing.

For this next card I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch and the colours over at CR84FN this weekend.
