6 Picture Meme

Jodene, a fellow West Australian and the creator of 'Did I say that out loud' blog And Donna from Popsicle Toes tagged me for this challenge and I was curious to see what I would find!
First, the rules are simple. As follows:
1.Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures. 2.Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder.
3.Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.
4.Tag 6 other peoples that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

Here is my picture and the story behind it:

This photo was taken on the 13th July 2004. I had been transfered to Kununurra as the Deputy Principal at the school and had the most amazing time exploring the Kimberleys during that year. During the mid-year holidays I had friends from Perth come up to visit me and we loaded up our swags on the roof of my jeep and packed up tents, equipment and supplies for a 5 day camping experience in the Bungle Bungles. This photo was taken soon after our arrival into the park, it had taken us 2 hours to travel the 78km into the park - the tracks in were devilish (but an adrenalin rush) and we had gone across 5 creeks and a river to get in - super fun as some of the drop downs were a over a metre. We rescued a car that got stuck on its way across a creek towing them out of the situation and lost one of my number plates...lol...Liz is on the roof of my car untying the swags and Kerry is by the door - we had the best week and took some excellent photos - I love camping with the girls, my perth mates, kimberley buddies and newer friends from Norseman - all the jobs get done!

The 6 people I am tagging are:

Toni from Chick Chat, a friend from Norseman and Queen of the Crop at Hybrid Designs

Moralia from Moralias Web Blog, one of my first sources of inspiration when I started blogging with an amazing sense of colour and design

Donna from Butternut Sage Designs, a 'Stampin Up' Demonstrator who has awesome ideas and makes incredibly creative cards

Jenn D from Stamp your Heart out, Jenn is awesome - her cards are super cute and she gives great explanantions about creating her effects!

Sue from My Inner Reflection, Sue is another Aussie who recently made a comment of one of my cards, when I checked her blog she had this super cute pocket card which I scraplifted *hangs head in shame* I'll be checker her blog regularly!

Marie from Said Simply, Marie is a fellow Hanami tribe member in the Hybrid Design 'Survivor' Challenge her blog is awesome and her work is detailed with great design elements.

Thanks for tagging me Jodene - It was fun going back into old photos!

Outbling - Outcrop - Outscrap

The Hybrid Designs website is hosting a challenge this month which I joined (not too sure how wise it was) based on survivor with a scrapbooking theme. The participants have been divided up into two teams Hanami (my team) and Kazan and our first team challenge was to come up with a totem - ours is awesome thanks to Kym - one of my team mates. The next Challenge (individual) was to come up with a LO, OTP or mini based on our totem.......

I made a minibook to record our team's progress. Everyone has a page inside and as we complete challenges I will add them to each team mates record - should be a good journal of how we are going - first challenge is due on the 22nd and so far 4 of us are done!

My poor baby....

My poor puppy went in for his yearly vet check this morning and came out later this afternoon with 26 stitches - a lump had appeared on his leg just before Christmas and when I had the vet check it out they were a little worried that the cells in the growth weren't normal. On top of that poor Erkle had a few other little cysts that the vet recommended removing - so they put him under, removed 3 growths, cleaned his teeth and he is looking a very sorry for himself at the moment and is reaping in the sympathy and treats!

He has 10 days of recuperation before I take out all his stitches until then he is looking a little like an unfinished patchwork cushion.....poor baby!

Kristina's Colour inspiration # 38

I love the colours Kristina picked for her challenge this week, though they are not colours I would usually use together, I am happy with the results!

Samantha's Birthday

Well I have just got home from a few days in Perth celebrating my nieces first Birthday and then a follow up trip down to Busselton to help mum with a few cleanup issues - the SHED!!!!

Sam's celebrations started with an afternoon tea with the Herberts on Sunday then a follow-up lunch the following day on Samantha's actual birthday. Sunday afternoon tea was heaps of fun - with my two nieces, we were not short of entertainment - Mia is toddling around very well and Samantha was using a chair as a walker for the afternoon.

When it came to present time, Mia was happy to help with the unwrapping!

The lunch, at my brothers local nursery/cafe-restaurant, was lovely and Samantha was on her best behaviour and loving all the attention.

Bitten by the Bug Challenge.....

You would think I would be challenged out by now but no no no....am loving the direction and focus it gives me to getting my cards done. Oooooh the heat.....

44 Degrees Celcius and my air conditioner is on the blink...making me think back to other times of heat - Cape Levique October 2007. It should have been Cape Levique October 2008 except for the unexpected, unplanned transfer to Hyden for my job. Instead of lazing in a beach shack last October I was packing, driving 300km on a dirt track and then unpacking and getting ready for school with 3 days to go .....

Anyways, Cape Levique 2007 was awesome and I just couldn't decide which photos to scrap, so I scrapped em all..*g* I used a sketch I received at the Hyden retreat (author forgotten *wince*) last November.

Paper: Basic Grey Archaic - Primal, Primative and Dirty

I feel the need to declutter....

The biggest angst for me with paper crafts is the rubble left behind....I get immersed in the muck during the creative process then I come up for air at the end of the project and freak out..it goes so much against my grain to see my work station look like this.......

And then comes the peace after the storm...when my stash has been stashed, my discards seperated into rubbish for the bin and rubbish for the recycle bin, my desk once more has white surface and my need for order has been satisfied......

I'm ready for my next project.....

This week: 18 Birthday cards, 2 Mothers Day cards, 1 Fathers Day card, 2 Easter cards and 1 Thankyou card. No Layouts yet.......

Caardvarks January Challenge

I have always been a big fan of Becky Fleck's Page Maps - she is responsible for many many of my scrapbook LO's and her Page Maps Cards are a constant companion at crops and retreats! So when I visited the Caardvark site and saw the challenge, I was definitely up for it.

With patterned paper from an early Paper Salon Range - 'Harmony' - in my stash inspiration was easy. A few flowers from Kaiser Craft and 'Desert Sun' Yarn from Bazzil and it was done.

Love the cool colours - delightful on a day expected to reach 44 degrees celcius!

2 sketches 4 You

My Entry for Kazans Sketch 17
H
ow can you not be inspired by the scalloping on the sketch *g*

My take on the sketch is this - the delightful 'Mia Collection' from Crate Paper and my trusty Dymo - someones going to love it!

My cards.....

Congratulations to Rosie who had her little baby boy Simon just before Christmas - this one is in the mail to her as I type! I can't wait to give Rosie and the little tyke a hug from his Auntie Lynne - requires a trip to Kalgoorlie ....its holidays anything could happen!

One of many like Birthday cards for the women in my life! I used a pack of paper I have been hanging out to get creative with: Mia Collection from Crate Paper

Inspired from Bibbis Dillerier' blog - her work is so shabby chic and awesome - made me want to start internet shopping immediately!

These guys are thanks to the hard work of Lisa at Precious Piecings - these little guys are a breeze to cut out on the bug with the help of SCAL - with a little bit of shabby chic detailing my neices will love them!

This is a direct scraplift from an incredible designer, Jennifer McGuire who seems to adhere to the "KISS" principle brilliantly...I will be going back and back to her blog!
